Filming the Cursa del Alba and Montserrat Marathon
Montserrat is an idyllic place. Its rock formations are unique in the world and stand out from the rest of the landscape surrounding it. For us it is a special place, as one of our partners and main pilot grew up in the village of Collbató, located on the southern side of the mountain.
So, when we were given the opportunity to be part of the Outdoor Time TV shooting team for Esport 3, our pilot jumped at the opportunity.
There was no doubt it was going to be a unique and challenging assignment. First of all, it was necessary to climb up to the peak of Sant Jeroni (1,236 m) and secondly, because normally you are not allowed to film with a drone in this area as it is a Natural Park.However, with authorization from the Patronat de la Muntanya de Montserrat and our DJI Inspire 2 in our backpack, nothing could stop us from getting the footage we wanted. At 7am be began our hike from the Montserrat Monastery reaching the summit around 8:30am. At 9:15am. the first runners who had 16 kilometers under their feet began to arrive. After taking some shots of the summit, the next stop was the cable car station in Sant Miquel where we got some beautiful footage of the Monastery.
We also got to film some of the natural scenery of the mountain around Can Massana. The famous Roca Foradada looks spectacular in the background. To see the full review aired on TV you can click on this link.
